Nigerian born US-based model, Fancy Acholonu, has claimed ex fiancé, Alex Ekubo, “manipulated” her, days after issuing an apology and seeking reconciliation.

Alex Ekubo and Fancy got engaged in May 2021, however, she suddenly called off their already-scheduled wedding in August of the same year.

On Friday, the model issued a public apology to Ekubo via Instagram, stating that her heart still belongs to him.

Ekubo reacted to the apology with a comment which read: “I appreciate the apology. May God bless us all.”

The post has since been deleted.

In an unexpected turn of events, Acholonu took to Instagram on Monday, 2 January, 2022, to declare that she is “free” and that “the chain is broken.”

“Happy New Year everyone. 2023 will be my year of strength, being fearless, speaking up for myself & FINALLY no longer under anyone’s control. I’m free, the chain is broken. May God bless us all. #SimplyFancy,” she captioned the post.

Answering questions in the comment section, Fancy claimed that the actor made her write the apology in order to savage his public image.

One Instagram user, @lindaedo asked why the former couple broke up in the first place, and Acholonu replied: “For the same reason I no longer want to be with him, all of you are right people don’t change.

“I definitely would have left him again. So he deserves different and I deserve better,” she wrote.

Answering a similar question from another commentator, @buzzboxer360, the model lamented about the backlash she faced after her apology even though the reasons for their break up is not publicly known.

“I’ve literally said nothing about why I even ended it in the first place,” she wrote.

“People are attacking me not even knowing the pain I went through and he’s busy asking me to apologise publicly all the time just for his image. What about my image he’s now trying to damage?”

Fancy tagged Alexx’s actions as “beyond cruel,” and stated that she was “no longer scared or under his control.”
