WARRI: Angry mob in Okumagba Avenue area of Warri South Local Government council area, Delta State has set ablaze a teenager identified simply as Eddy, for robbing a resident of Okumagba Avenue.
The Union Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Sources said that, “the gang of four entered into the house of a resident of Celima and robbed them of their money, in the process one of them was apprehended and set ablaze.
“The one that was set ablaze happened to be a former resident of the area. He was also, alleged to be the gang leader, who led the four man gang to the area.
Another source at the scene said, “People are taking laws into their hands, with this jungle justice of a thing, it will be difficult for the police to do a follow-up by tracing the other three that ran away.
But if they had taking this one killed to the police, may be the remaining three would have been arrested. But taking laws into their hands now, I don’t think the police can do anything about the others who ran away.”
When contacted for comments, the State Acting Police Public Relations Officer PPRO. DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident. He said, “Yes, it’s confirmed, someone was killed.”
