Hisbah Arrests 32 Commercial Sex Workers In Kano State

He pointed out that clinical investigation carried out to examine health status of the arrested brothels proved that out of 32 women arrested 12 have already tested HIV-positive.

Kano State Hisbah Board has said that it has arrested 32 women prostitutes at a tomato market in Badume located in Bichi local government area of Kano state.

Briefing Journalists the Kano state Hisbah Commandant General, Sheikh Muhammad Harun Ibn Sina said the operatives of the board made the arrest in a joint operation with other security agencies.

He pointed out that clinical investigation carried out to examine health status of the arrested brothels proved that out of 32 women arrested 12 have already tested HIV-positive.

Sheikh Haruna Ibn Sina maintained that those that were tested HIV positive among the arrested prostitutes, seven are aware of their status while five of them don’t even know their status.

The Commander gave breakdown of their State of origins which included Jigawa, Kano, Zamfara, Adamawa, Katsina, Anambra, Cross Rivers, Enugu, and Republic of Cameroon.

Sheikh Ibn Sina also stated that the operatives apprehended 9 male alleged to have collaborated with the prostitutes.

He further explained that the Board handed over the Male alleged collaborators to Kano Command of National Drug law enforcement Agencies for investigation on drug-related offences.

He said allowing prostitutes to roam the street will corrupt the mind of Kano citizens and according to him  that has contravenes the dictates of Kano State Sharia Law.
