Lagos State Police Command yesterday said it has arrested 15 suspected members of different cult gangs for acts of terrorism committed within the metropolis.
The command also said it has recovered dangerous weapons from the gang who have been terrorising residents of the Lekki and Ajah areas of Lagos.
The spokesman for the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement said the suspects were nabbed before they could carry out the planned attack in the area.
He said on Monday, December 28, 2020, at about 4 am, while responding to a distress call from the Agunfoye area of Ikorodu, the Police Surveillance team attached to Ikorodu Division of the Command arrested one Taiye Lasisi, 20, of Agunfoye, with a locally-made revolver pistol.
He said after his arrest, a search was extended to other black spots in the area, where 13 other suspected cultists belonging to Aiye Confraternity were arrested.
Adejobi said also that the Police operatives in Akodo Division, same day, at about 4 am, arrested one suspected cultist, Lekan Razak, 20, while attempting to rob at No. 25, Ibomide Street, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.
